Note that these files are only available to people who have signed the NDA. All files are located in /net/sw/muse/tsmc_pdk.

• If you don't have a .cdsinit file in your home directory, copy a generic one from Cadence.
  

  [~] $ cp $ICHOME/tools/dfII/cdsuser/.cdsinit .
  

• Make a new directory to use

  [~]$ mkdir tsmc
  [~]$ cd tsmc
  

• Copy the cds.lib file and display.drf file to this new project directory and link to the libInit.il file.

  [~] cd tsmc
  [~/tsmc] cp /net/sw/muse/tsmc_pdk/cds.lib . 
  [~/tsmc] cp /net/sw/muse/tsmc_pdk/display.drf .
  [~/tsmc] ln -s /net/sw/muse/tsmc_pdk/tsmc18/libInit.il libInit.il
  

  If you already have a cds.lib file that you want to use, the line to add for the tsmc library is:
  

  DEFINE tsmc18 /net/sw/muse/tsmc_pdk/tsmc18
  

That sets up your working directory. Now start virtuoso from that directory to create a new library.

• Start virtuoso and load the TSMC PDK. You'll know it's loaded when the TSMC PDK setting information window pops up and a new menu called TSMC PDK Tools is added.
  
• Select Tools -> Library Manager
  
• In the Library Manager window, run File -> New to create a new library to work in. In the New Library window that comes up, give your library a name and and then press OK.
  
• A "Technology File for New Library" window will come up. Select "Attach to an existing technology library." and press OK.
  
• In the "Attach Library to Technology Library" window, select tsmc18 and press OK.
  
• Highlight your new library and go to File -> New -> Cell View to create a new cell..
  
• Give your new cell a name.
  
• Start drawing your schematic.
