Cross Talk


For this board's stackup and considering 1ns rising edge, we have -21.02 dB calculated cross talk coefficient on micro strip traces
running 10 mils apart for 4 inches and -18.81 dB on stripline traces.

We performed cross talk tests for some nets on the board,
using the Interconnect Synthesis tool by Mentor Graphics.
Most of the IBIS models were vendor supplied.
The IBIS models for Altera 20K400 were generated with Quartus II.

  •  /VMEDATA(8) is a 27.8" long net with 14 potential aggressor nets (as reported by ICX):

  •      Cross talk induced signals measured on 4 pins on /VMEDATA(8),
        Signals on 4 pins of /VMEDATA(8) with no cross talk,
        Signals on the same  4 pins of /VMEDATA(8) considering the effect of cross talk.
        Overlay of same pin signals with and without cross talk effect.
     
  •  Example of lvds signals measured on the termination resistor and differentially on the receiver;
  •  Overlay of that differential signal with and without cross talk.
