Networking Problems in Windows 98
If after setting up TCP/IP networking on a win98 machine, you cannot connect to
any other computers in the Network Neighborhood, add another networking
protocol. I usually add NetBEUI. Then restart the computer and the Network
Neighborhood links usually work fine. The error message that is usually
given is "Unable to Browse the Network". This is a known windows 98 problem.
See
this article for more info. Though it talks about adding TCP/IP with a
problem with NetBEUI, it is also true with just TCP/IP.
