mgc_ins Error when Installing SmartModels
Question: Why do I get the following errors while installing a model into the
SmartModel library?
mgc_ins: Error: Unsupported platform, vco=hpx
or
mgc_ins: Error: Unsupported platform, vco=ss6
while installing a model into the SmartModel library?
Answer: mgc_ins is used to install and configure the SWIFTi interface
with the Mentor Graphics Quicksim II installation.
Prior to MGC release D.1, Synopsys provided, supported, and
installed SWIFTi at the user site and configured the MGC user tree.
From D.1 forward, MGC took complete ownership. As such,
mgc_ins applies only for pre-D.1 installations. You are using
a MGC installation after D.1. As such, our mgc_ins utility no
longer applies.
You should contact Mentor Graphics for an update.
In addition, Mentor also changed the code for Sun from ss5 to ss6.
